ABOUT ME

Jean-Francois Vognin draws his inspiration from his extensive travels throughout Asia.

His art practice varies from the peaceful and relaxing lighting design to the loud and powerful earth-shaking beats of the Japanese drums.

He is an Auckland-based artist and taiko instructor at Kumo Taiko. He graduated from Auckland University of Technology and has exhibited in various galleries in Auckland. He is also a certified Guild Picture Framer since 2006.

He is also in charge of the maintenance of Auckland Symphony Orchestra's percussion equipment. He performed Taiko with the orchestra for the Synthony concert in 2019.

He built the biggest Hiradaiko ( Japanese "flat" drum) in New Zealand in 2014. It was used in a taiko concert by the Tamashii group as well as X-Factor NZ and various international artists.

He also provided onsite training for Disney's life action Mulan in 2018, drum rental and consultancy for ABC Studio's series "Triangle".
